Dr. Pravas Chandra Mishra - BMT Surgeon for Blood Disorder Treatment in India

Dr. Pravas Chandra Mishra is a leading hematologist in India, with over 17 years of experience in bone marrow transplantation and the treatment of complex blood-related disorders. Currently serving as a professor of hematology and programme head of BMT at Amrita Hospitals, the doctor’s areas of expertise include myeloid malignancies, bone marrow failure syndromes, hemoglobinopathies, and both benign and malignant hematological conditions.

He completed his MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in 1997 and went on to pursue his MD in Internal Medicine from the same institute. He later earned his DM in Clinical Haematology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. After completing his training, he joined the faculty at AIIMS, where he served in various roles and eventually rose to the position of Professor of Haematology before moving into private practice in 2017.

Also an avid researcher, this doctor has authored over 100 publications in leading national and international journals and contributed chapters to key medical textbooks, including those by the Association of Physicians of India and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Mishra’s further polished his expertise through fellowships and observerships at leading institutes, including King’s College London, Hammersmith Hospital London, Westmead Hospital Sydney, and City of Hope Hospital, Los Angeles. These experiences have enhanced his skills in advanced bone marrow transplantation techniques and the management of rare or complex blood disorders.

Among the many awards received by the doctor, he is also the recipient of the Geeta Medal Award for best research in oncology at AIIMS, the Young Investigator Award from the Asia Pacific Congress on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.  In 2017, Dr. Mishra established the Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit at Max Super Speciality Hospitals in Patparganj and Vaishali, where he performed a wide range of transplants, including matched unrelated and haploidentical stem cell transplants. In August 2022, he joined Amrita Hospitals, where he now heads hematology and BMT services as part of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology.
