Dr. Tejinder Kataria joined the Medanta Cancer Institute in October 2009 and was important in the establishment of the radiation oncology division. The division includes a dedicated team of professionals who provide comprehensive cancer care using cutting-edge technology. It has India's first infinite linear accelerator with volumetric modulated arc treatment (vmat), as well as synergy-s with beam modulator and srs capabilities.
The nucletron integrated brachytherapy machine is a first for northern India, and it can treat patients with both low dosage rate seed implants and high dose rate brachytherapy. Dr. Kataria was essential in the commissioning of the most up-to-date stereotactic radiation techniques, including micro multi-leaf collimation, whole body stereotactic radiotherapy (sbrt), and image-guided radiotherapy (igrt), whole-body stereotactic radiotherapy (sbrt), image-guided radiotherapy (igrt), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (imrt)and 3-d conformal radiation (3d crt), pet-ct, MRI, spect, dsa and ct-simulator fusion for treatment planning. Prior to this, she had been instrumental in starting the department of radiation oncology at Artemis health institute in 2007 and Rajiv Gandhi cancer institute in 1996.
