A highly skilled and well-qualified professional Dr. Arun Prasad did his MBBS in 1983 at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He did his MS in general surgery in 1988 from G B Pant Hospital (Moulana Azad Medical College), New Delhi. Later, he did FRCS in general surgery in 1990 at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow.

Dr. Prasad has been working in this field for more than three decades. And in his long career, he has worked with many top-rated and leading healthcare providers in India and abroad. After completing his FRCS, he joined Charing Cross Medical School, London, and associated hospitals. Here, he and his team first begin laparoscopic surgery.

In 1996, he returned from the UK and joined Apollo Hospitals as one of the youngest senior consultants, working for 22 years. Later, Dr. Prasad joined Manipal Hospitals as Head of the Department of Surgery and Chief of Surgical Gastroenterology and Bariatric Surgery. He is one of the top bariatric surgeons in India. Till now Dr. Arun Prasad has done over 6000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, over 2000 laparoscopic hernia surgeries, and 1000 bariatric surgeries including patients who weigh 250 kgs or more. He has successfully performed more than 400 cases of robotic bariatric and thymectomy surgeries. One of his records is that he had successfully operated on a patient with a laparoscopic technique in a 100-year-old patient.

He has received awards from the Health Ministry of Delhi and India for Thoracoscopy and Bariatric surgery/treatment.
