Metro Hospitals & Heart Institute

Metro Hospitals & Heart Institute - Top Hospital in India

Metro Hospitals & Heart Institute Noida is 317 bedded state-of-the-art super specialty hospital functioning as two units - one dedicated 110 bedded Metro Heart Institute and second 207 bedded Metro Multispecialty Hospital.  They are located less than 200 meters apart and provide a complete spectrum of world-class inpatient, outpatient and emergency services.

Metro Heart Institute, the Cardiology Wing of Metro Hospitals & Heart Institute, Noida was established in June 1997 under the leadership of Dr. Purshotam Lal, a pioneer in Interventional Cardiology with a mission to providing international standard healthcare at an affordable cost.

Dr. Purshotam Lal as Director, Interventional Cardiology and Chairman, Metro Group of Hospitals has played a significant role in bringing Noida on the globe in the field of cardiology with its pioneering efforts on numerous procedures (eg: non-surgical replacement of aortic valve for the first time in the world, concept of Metro Coronary Screening, multiple heart hole closure etc.).

Listed several times in the Limca Book of World Records, Dr. Lal has the unique distinction of performing the largest number of angioplasties as a single operator.  He happens to be the First Interventional Cardiologist in the country being awarded Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dr. B C Roy National Award by the President of India.

Metro Heart Institute is one of the largest heart hospitals of its kind in the country which has established impeccable proven record of performing more than one lakh procedures with excellent results. It was awarded as the Best Single Specialty Hospital of the Year 2014 by the Hon. Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare.

It offers comprehensive advanced services in the field of Preventive Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

The hospital has 45 bedded Intensive Coronary Care and High Dependency Units equipped with advanced life support equipments manned by a trained staff of intensivists, cardiac anaesthetists and qualified nurses round-the-clock.

Department of Preventive Cardiology

With growing work pressure, sedentary lifestyle, poor dietary habits, increased alcohol consumption & smoking, there has been an increase in the incidence of heart diseases, respiratory ailments and many more diseases.

At Metro Heart Institute, we still believe that Prevention is better than Cure.  We offer various heart check-up packages along with lifestyle management facilities under the guidance of experienced cardiologists.

It is important to understand that even 30-40% blockage in arteries may lead to a heart attack. Most heart checkups available today consist of blood tests, ECHO & TMT, and they are unable to detect the same.

CT Coronary Angiography Profile is a non-surgical procedure consisting of:

  • Blood Studies (Blood sugar, Haemoglobin, Kidney & Liver Function Tests etc.)
  • Echocardiography to evaluate various valves of the heart and the function of ventricles.
  • CT Coronary Angiography (512 slices)

Metro Coronary Screening is a unique test that was conceptualized by Dr. Purshotam Lal for people having multiple risk factors with high likelihood of coronary artery disease. It consists of:

  • Blood Studies (Blood sugar, Haemoglobin, Kidney & Liver Function Tests etc.)
  • Echocardiography to evaluate various valves of the heart and the function of ventricles.
  • Coronary Angiography through arm to rule out any blocks in the arteries of the heart.

No preparation is required for the test. Procedure time is about 10 minutes and the individual can return to work/home in less than one hour (More than 28,000 procedures have been done since 1998 with 100% success).

The department is looked after by a team of highly qualified and experienced Cardiologists supported by the most sophisticated diagnostic equipments available to assess the patient's cardiac status.

Non Invasive Cardiology Lab includes 12 channel Electrocardiography, Case Computerised Tread Mill (GE-Marquette), GE Vivid 3 and Philips Envisor-C Color Doppler with Stress Echo & Tranesophageal Echocardiography, Telemetry & 24 hour Holter monitoring (GE), Enhanced External Counter pulsation (EECP).

Color Doppler Echocardiography (ECG)

ECG measures the flow of blood through the heart's chambers and valves. The amount of blood pumped out with each beat is an indication of the heart's functioning. Color Doppler is an enhanced form of Doppler echocardiography wherein different colors are used to designate the direction of blood flow.

Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography (DSE)

A DSE is performed to assess the heart muscles under stress. Dobutamine (an intravenous medication that causes the heart to beat faster) is used if exercise on a treadmill is not an option (too much stress on the heart) due to a person’s medical condition.

Trans-esophageal Echocardiography (TEE)

TEE uses echocardiography to assess the heart’s function. During the procedure, a transducer (like a microphone) sends out ultrasonic sound waves at a frequency too high to be heard. When the transducer is placed at certain locations and angles, the ultrasonic sound waves move through the skin and other body tissues to the heart tissues, where the waves bounce or "echo" off of the heart structures. The transducer picks up the reflected waves and sends them to a computer. The computer displays the echoes as images of the heart walls and valves.

Treadmill Test (TMT)

TMT is also called Exercise Stress Test, Computerised Stress Test or simply Stress test. This is the most easy, popular and common test performed on heart patients to determine the severity of the heart disease. Taken at an interval, this test can also show the improvement or deterioration of patient's angina.

Holter Monitoring with ECG

A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that keeps track of your heart rhythm. Your doctor may want you to wear a Holter monitor for one to two days. During that time, the device records all of your heartbeats.

A Holter monitor test is usually performed after a traditional test to check your heart rhythm (electrocardiogram) if the electrocardiogram doesn't give your doctor enough information about your heart's condition.

Enhanced External Counter Pulsation is an alternate therapy to open blockages and is useful for old age patients & ones who are not willing to go for intervention.

It is a safe, non-invasive, outpatient treatment option for patients suffering from ischemic heart diseases such as angina and heart failure.

Metro Hospitals & Heart Institute, Noida is amongst the few centers in India to have an EECP machine.

Department of Interventional Cardiology

Our teams of highly qualified and skilled Interventional Cardiologists have played a pioneering role in introducing a large number of Interventional techniques for the first time in India like Directional Atherectomy, Slow Rotational Angioplasty, Rotablator, Coronary and Peripheral Stenting, Non-Surgical Closure of heart holes like ASD, VSD, PDA, Coil Embolisation and opening of narrow heart valves. The department is equipped with 2 flat panel Cath Labs of GE & Siemens.

The department provides non-surgical treatment of coronary artery blocks with angioplasty/drug coated stents Atherectomy/Rotablation/ Thrombectomy/Laser Therapy/Coil Embolisation etc.

With several research programmes in collaboration with prestigious Universities of USA, Metro Heart Institute has already made a landmark both nationally and internationally by presenting more than 100 original research papers. It is one of the highest volume institute in the country and is providing all around services including complex angioplasties, valvuloplasties, heart hole closures in the field of both adult and paediatric interventional cardiology.
