Dentures and Bridges- Procedure, Cost in India

Some people may have not had the perfect teeth. While some teeth may go missing, others might have large gaps between them, leading to an overall lack of appeal in the smile and loss in confidence of a person.
Due to recent developments in dentistry, several solutions have come up. Two of the most important ones are Dentures and Bridges. These dentistry tools help to solve the problems of missing teeth and the presence of gaps present between the teeth. However, which one to choose, Dentures or Bridges, you will know once you read below a detailed explanation.

What are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is used to fill the gap present between two or more teeth by using existing teeth or dental implants around the gap area which is then used to fix the artificial tooth in place. There are several advantages and reasons for choosing dental bridges as they provide a long lasting solution to the gap present between the teeth without posing any risk of them falling out. Dental Bridges can last from between five to 15 years. Once they are put in place, you may forget about them, but they must be cleaned every day so that dental problems and infections like bad breath or gum diseases don't show up. Bridges are permanent and cannot be removed daily.

What are Dentures?

Dentures are a much more flexible type of tools for the problem of missing teeth, as they are removable. Dentures consist of a removable plate attached with the artificial teeth that are customized according to the patient's dental jawline. Dentures fit over the gums in place of the teeth which have been lost.
You can remove the dentures at the night before sleeping but must make sure about their cleanliness so as to avoid any staining on them.
However these temporary dentures or removable dentures may give the patient the perfect fit as they are already made before the surgery, therefore it is difficult to predict how the patient's face or mouth may look like once the teeth are removed. However, for this, there are permanent dentures which are made after around 2 months after your mouth has healed from the surgery. It is only during this period, you may be needed to wear temporary dentures.
Sometimes the patients may go again for realignment of their temporary dentures after their mouths have recovered and are in a better condition for a better fit. At this point, you can convert them into permanent dentures.
Sometimes people may keep temporary dentures as a means of back-up when they may lose or damage their permanent dentures.

Permanent Dentures

Permanent dentures are constructed and customized after your gums have healed post tooth extraction. The healing may take about 6-8 weeks. Many people opt for Permanent dentures as they give a more natural and realistic look. Another advantage is that the teeth on permanent dentures have sharper teeth, which makes chewing food easier.
