With over 38 years of experience and a Padma Shri to his name, Dr. V.S. Mehta is regarded as one of the best neurosurgeons in India. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department at Paras Hospitals, a leading centre for neurosurgical care in India.

Dr. Mehta’s journey in medicine began early. He earned his MBBS from Sawai Man Singh Hospital in 1981, graduating as a top student. He then pursued a master’s degree in general surgery from the same institution in 1984. Finding his interest in neurosurgery, he went on to complete his M.Ch. in Neurosurgery from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, in 1987

Then came the start of his professional journey, where he started his work in the UK as a visiting neurosurgery consultant at the Newcastle General Hospital. Upon returning to India, he joined AIIMS as the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Gamma Knife Radiosurgery. In 2001, he was promoted to the Chief of Neurosciences Centre at AIIMS. In 2006, he joined Paras Hospitals in Gurugram, where he continues to serve as the Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department.

During his time working as a neurosurgeon, the doctor has been recognised with the Padma Shri and other important awards for his distinguished contributions to the field of neurosurgery. e has been a pioneer in several areas of the field and was instrumental in establishing the Neurosurgery Department at Paras Hospitals.

Aside from being an experienced neurosurgeon in India, Dr. Mehta is also an active member of esteemed national and international medical organisations, including the Neurological Society of India, the South Asian Association of Neurosurgeons, and the Indian Society of Spinal Neurosurgeons. He remains deeply involved in advancing the field and is also a dedicated researcher, with several publications in respected medical journals.

Dr. Mehta specialises in neurobrachial plexus surgeries, brain tumor surgery, and brain stem tumor surgeries. With a high success rate, he is regarded for his skill in performing complex neurosurgical procedures with precision in India.
