Dr. Ashish Katewa - Leading Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon in India

Dr. Ashish Katewa is a leading pediatric and congenital heart surgeon with over 14 years of experience as a specialist in this field. Throughout his career, he has successfully performed more than 6,000 pediatric cardiac surgeries, with expertise across the full spectrum of congenital heart disease in infants, children, and adults.

Dr. Katewa started his career as a doctor by completing his MBBS from SMS Medical College in Rajasthan in 1999. He then pursued his postgraduate training in General Surgery at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, where he also earned his M.Ch. in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. Further polishing his expertise, he completed his Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Australia.

His areas of specialisation include neonatal and pediatric cardiac surgery, adult congenital heart surgery, root translocations, and surgical interventions for complex conditions such as pediatric arrhythmias and dilated cardiomyopathy. Dr. Katewa is also experienced in bloodless cardiac surgeries, single ventricle management, and airway surgery in pediatric patients for both common and rare cardiac conditions.

Along with being a recognised doctor, Dr. Katewa also serves as a Governing Council Member of the Society of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgeons of India. He was the organising secretary for the 20th Annual Conference of the Pediatric Cardiac Society of India in 2019.

He is an active member of a number of societies, including the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery, the Pediatric Cardiac Society of India, and the Indian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons. Early in his career, he was honoured with the A.V. Baliga Valedictory Award for securing the top position in General Surgery at the University of Mumbai in 2005.

Along with this, he is also an advocate for congenital heart disease awareness and often collaborates with government agencies, philanthropic foundations, and community organisations to empower and support families that are affected by congenital heart conditions.
