With the global rise in liver disease cases and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, the application of AI in healthcare is becoming increasingly beneficial. Recognising this potential, Apollo Hospitals has partnered with Siemens Healthineers to launch a research collaboration focused on using AI and imaging technologies to manage liver diseases more effectively.
This joint initiative aims to integrate Apollo Hospitals’ clinical expertise with the technical and scientific capabilities of Siemens Healthineers. The collaboration is designed to help with advancements in early diagnosis, accurate assessment, and precise monitoring of liver conditions, responding to the growing burden of liver diseases in India.
The research will particularly focus on quantitative ultrasound imaging and AI-driven ultrasound treatments. These advancements are expected to benefit patients suffering from conditions such as Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. The strategies developed will support early detection, risk stratification, and ongoing monitoring of liver diseases.
‘Liver diseases pose a significant public health challenge, requiring increased awareness, early detection, and effective management strategies,’ said Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals. ‘Collaborating with Siemens Healthineers is a big step towards utilising AI to revolutionise how we diagnose and treat liver diseases. AI-driven disease progression models are particularly crucial to identifying diseases early, treating them promptly, screening them cost-effectively, and getting more effective outcomes.’
