Professor Samet Yardimci - Upper GI Surgeon in Izmir

In 1997, Professor Samet Yardimci, the best doctor for gastric sleeve in Turkey, enrolled at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine to pursue his medical studies. Along with his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine in 2003, he started working as a general surgery assistant at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital after passing the medical specialty test.

During 2008 and 2009, he received training in cancer surgery and organ transplantation at Memorial Herrman hospitals and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. After succeeding in his exams, he had training in digestive system surgery (gastroenterology) at Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Hospital from 2009 to 2012.

Appointed at the Pendik Training and Research Hospital at Marmara University in 2012, Professor Samet Yardimci became the youngest and the best upper GI surgeon in Izmir. From 2012 until 2018, he participated in events that educated both patients and surgeons, and he gave lectures to general surgery assistants and medical students at Marmara University's Faculty of Medicine.

In addition to practicing advanced laparoscopic surgery, obesity and metabolic surgery, organ transplantation, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, and permanent weight loss surgery, he contributed to establishing these fields. He was promoted to the position of Associate Professor in the March 2017 promotion test.

The Revisional Bariatric Surgery Course Certificate of Achievement was bestowed to him by St. Jan's Hospital in Bruges, Belgium, during his participation in the 2017 Revisional Bariatric Surgery Training Program. He received the award for Best Young Researcher at the 2012 International Transplantation Congress for his contributions to the field of promoting stomach surgeries for weight loss in Turkey.

Countless national and international gatherings invited him to speak. He was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate for his dedication to ensuring patient happiness. A certificate of appreciation was provided to him for the patient education sessions he conducted on metabolic and obesity surgery. Professor Samet Yardimci assisted his colleagues in their pursuit of higher education by organizing courses in metabolic surgery and obesity in 2015 and 2017. 

In addition to being a member of the Turkish Surgery Association, he is also a member of the following groups: The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders, the Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery Association, the Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgery Association, the Gastroenterology Surgery Association, and the Turkish Obesity Surgery Association (IFSO). He has authored eleven chapters for specialized medical journals and has a plethora of research published both nationally and internationally.
